Seamus C20, 50D-NY-3027571 JEFFREY EPSTEIN, SDNY; C/A SA & TFO SOS FoA FBI New York, in coordination with the Southern District ofNew York's United States Attorney's Office, has been investigating the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors committed by JEFFREY EPSTEIN. EPSTEIN was charged and arrested with sex trafficking and conspiracy in July 2019. In addition to EPSTEIN, co-conspirators have also been investigated, including GHISLAINE MAXWELL. MAXWELL assisted, facilitated, and contributed to EPSTEIN's abuse of minors by recruiting, grooming, and abusing minors they knew to be under the age of 18. MAXWELL was arrested in July 2020 and initially charged with enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and perjury. On 3/29/2021, a federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment in the case against Ghislaine Maxwell where two new counts were added to include Sex Trafficking of a Minor and Sex Trafficking Conspiracy. The superseding indictment also expanded the alleged time frame on the charged conduct from approximately 1994 to approximately 2004. Trial for Maxwell is set for November 29, 2021 with jury selection to begin on November 15, 2021. EFTA00161772
