OF PRISONS, Position Corrections Officer, was interviewed by the So
District of New York (SDNY) Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA)
and AUSAI on 08/29/2019 in Room 645 at 1 Saint Andrews
Plaza, New York, New York 10007. Also present for the interview was Office
of Inspector General (OIG) Special Agent (SA) and Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI) SA After being advised of the
identities of the interviewing personnel, and the nature of the interview,
voluntarily provided the following information:
advised that he finished his college degree in criminal justice in
2017. Prior to his current position with BOP, he served as security for TOP
GOLF in New Jersey and BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE. joined BOP on
06/09/2019. He's worked in the following units: 11 North (N), 11 South (S),
9N, 9S, 7N, 7S, and 5S. advised that since he is relatively new to
BOP, he's unable to bid on a unit. Generally he is on the morning watch
from 12 a.m. - 8 a.m. or the day watch from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. added
that he has also worked a lot of overtime since working with BOP.
There is no specific training for the Special Housing Unit, hereinafter
referred to as the SHU. also never received training on suicide
prevention.
worked units 9N and 11S the most. He was usually "on the grill"
for SHU 2 or SHU 4. He also worked 30 minute rounds in the SHU. Although
he never officially handed in the sheet after rounds, he was being taught
how to properly fill out the form from senior officers. explained
that 30 minute rounds were done in the SHU during day watch. Day watch
count was done at 4 p.m. was usually leaving, but he would help with
the day watch count. On weekends this is done at 10 a.m. but never
worked weekends in the SHU.

Personnel on day watch always rotate. knows because they
grew up on the same block in Brooklyn. He is light skin and shorter than
NMI
On 08/09/2019, worked "dry cell" and observed one person. After
this he worked from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the SHU. This was also "shower day"
so there was a lot of movement involving approximately 70-80 people.
was assigned to give out toiletries. He didn't know EPSTEIN at the time but
he knows him now because of everything surrounding the situation. Otherwise,
doesn't follow the news. also knows "G" and "SHAQ". He's
worked with these individuals in the past but can't remember specific
instances. did not know and doesn't remember leaving and
EPSTEIN needing a cell mate.
