Re: Jeffrey E. Epstein - Sex Offender Registry
International Travel Notification
Dear Ms. Pinney:
We thank you for your email acknowledging receipt of Mr. Epstein's October
5, 2012 travel notification and informing Mr. Epstein that it is "required" that he
provide you with a specific "address for where you will be staying in Paris." From
the date that he first registered in the Virgin Islands, Mr. Epstein has maintained
strict compliance with the requirements of the sex offender registration law, and
sincerely desires to continue doing so. In an overabundance of caution, he promptly
responded to your email and provided you with the Paris address.
You may not be aware, however, that in Attorney General Frazer's letter
dated July 25, 2012, a copy of which is attached for your reference, your office
agreed that Mr. Epstein need not provide a specific lodging address when traveling
to foreign jurisdictions. Attorney General Frazer's July 25 letter specifically states
that "Foreign jurisdiction lodging may be identified by city and country." Thus, as
confirmed by the Attorney General, in any notice of Mr. Epstein's travels to foreign
jurisdictions, Mr. Epstein complies with his notice requirements by identifying the
city and country of his lodging, which is what he did in his October 5, 2012 travel
notification. I hope this resolves any confusion regarding this matter. Please feel
free to contact me if I may provide any additional information.
Respectfully,
Darren K Indyke
