At least we are working with some data finally. On arrival from the medevac the doctors here were waiting and
he received a full battery of MRI's, CT scans and the Neurologist did a comprehensive assessment
immediately. Except for the grim news about the location of the fractures things were looking up: his tactile
response was good mentally he had situational awareness.
The "respiratory arrest" occurred when they were setting up the Halo Fixator and I believe he just had his
airway blocked with a build up of mucus - which has been a minor situation all along due to a slight sinus drip
and being flat on his back for 2 days. I am just speculating but the doctor echoed this idea.
When it occurred around around 2:30AM this morning it was unexpected and they intubated him immediately
and put him under general anesthetic. He was not breathing for around 30 seconds maximum due to the quick
response.
Theme here seems knowledgeable and competent and their management skills so far seem
outstanding.
The plan is to keep him under anesthesia until tomorrow morning at which time the best course of action will
be reviewed based on his condition.
One bit of good news was that they were able to align th last night. I saw the and it
