The film is based on Naomi Alderman's book of the same title. DISOBEDIENCE follows a rabbi's daughter (Rachel Weisz), living in New York and working as a photographer, as she returns to the Orthodox Jewish community in London that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend (Rachel McAdams), who is married to a rabbi (Alessandro Nivola). Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality. DISOBEDIENCE was shown at the Toronto Film Festival and received rave reviews for Alessandro Nivola, Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdam's performances.
