I suspect that the calendar loads the "week view" whenever it's
opened — whether or not that calendar is displayed, so now that the
GAJILLION birthdays have passed to last week, it's no longer trying
to load them. (If I'm correct, then going back one week will result in
the return of crashes — not that I'm suggesting you test the theory...)
