Trop=cal storm conditions are expected across those islands late today. At S am= the center of Maria was estimated to be near 13.8 North, 56.2 West or about 655 miles east sou=heast of St. Thomas. Maria is moving to the west-northwest =ear 18 miles per hour. This motion should continue through Saturday and =n this track Maria will be near the Virgin Islands on Saturday night. Top =inds are at 40 miles per hour EFTA_R1_00155709 EFTA01807429 with higher gusts and some slight strengthen=ng is possible during the next two days. Tropical storm force winds extend=outward up to 175 miles mainly north of the center. The forecast track was adjusted = bit to the north with this advisory. On this track, Tropical Storm Mari= is expected to pass very close or over St. John at 9 pm Saturday and 1= miles to the north-northeast of St. Thomas an hour later. The closest the=center of the storm will come to St. Croix is some 37 miles to the island&=39;s northeast at around 6 pm on Saturday. St. Thomas and St. John will fe=l longest duration of tropical storm force winds beginning at 2 pm Saturda= and lasting for about 15 hours while St. Croix will begin to feel the tro=ical storm force winds, winds in excess of 39 miles per hour also at 2 pm =ut only for an approximate four-hour period.
