My strong recommendation would be the Nest Cam.
"Father of the iPod" Tony Fadell left Apple a some years ago to start Nest, the smart-thermostat company.
Google purchased Nest a couple years later, and last year Nest bought Dropcam; Nest Cam is the improved
Nest-child of the Dropcam Pro. I've installed a couple of Dropcams for clients that wanted to check on their
cats while on vacation, so Im very comfortable recommending this solution.
It features 1080p video, 130° camera angle, motion detection & alerts, two-way audio (talk/listen to the dock
thru the camera), usable night vision, iOS & web apps, an easy to mount, flexible stand and 10 days of video
archive on their cloud service.
Assuming the dock has solid will — like it's supposed to now — I would set it up here and ship it down
to the island to have Jermaine (or whoever) plug it into power and mount it somewhere it could see the dock
(maybe we get two, one for each side of the dock?).
It's $200 (each), plus $100/year for their cloud storage (additional camera adds $50/year subscription for
storage).

The second choice would be Foscam FI9826P. It's adds 300° pan, tilt and optical zoom functionality to the
Nest Cam as well as on-device SD-crd storage of clips, but has a narrower field of view (Foscam mazes out at
70°, Nest goes to 130°) and it's setup / apps are notoriously difficult to work with.
CNET:
$180 on Amazon:
Probably will need this $11 mounting hardware, too:
