At a minimum, the NACDL (the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers) should be willing to submit an amicus brief. I've been coordinating with Marty Weinberg regarding the NACDL. Going to Main Justice now, even in the quietest way, may not be well-received. But I understand your point and the potential (or at least theoretical) value of an approach.
