Four bins were purchased from a company called Wastequip in 2007 for $13,380. Three doors were replaced in 2010 for $3002. JR's sister works for a local waste management company. He called to ask about the average life span of these bins with proper maintenance - it is 10 years. The salt air conditions on LSJ or no more severe than any place on St. Thomas. Many of the bins on STT sit near the water, and as they serve the general public - they get much more use than the private bins of LSJ. Steve Rampino, when he was managing the rubbish removal for LSJ periodically invoiced LSJ for maintenance - he painted the bins, he welded or replaced the bottoms, etc. I would presume this is necessary especially if you have wet trash sitting for days or weeks in a hot metal container - I don't recall posting costs for bin repairs recently. One bin is currently at the hangar - Precise Trucking invoices normally charge for 2 bin hauls - where is the fourth bin that was purchased in 2007? Just a reminder - Steve Rampino's services were no longer deemed necessary by the LS1 management team when he began to voice concerns regarding the maintenance of the equipment by the LS1 management team and that they were eventually going to be a liability to JEE. The bin at the hangar will be pick up and brought back to the LSI He also said he contacted someone by the name of Fabian that will probably now transport bins if they have an future issues. So to answer your question, apparently the bins will not be fixed and they will avoid using James (Precise Trucking). He has requested that a chain and hook be welding on the bin gates. A) Presently only a strap is being used, which makes it difficult and time consuming to remove trash from bin B) Transportation to and from the Bovoni dump while gate is only secured with a strap poses a high danger hazard, should the strap give way in traffic. 2. He also requested that the trash not hang on the outside or stacked to high in the bins, because the hydraulic tarp will not engage properly. NB: Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority fines for trucks no being fully covered or dropping garbage or debris onto streets is $1,000.00 minimum. Please advise.
