Hi Jeffrey,
Hope my email finds you well.
As you already know, the opinion polls that the public and rest of the world so heavily relied upon regarding
Brexit proved to be wrong. I took your advice and used my sentiment analysis and opinion mining system to
predict the outcome of this major political event so that we can help investors make sound investment
decisions. We analyzed opinions, sentiments and emotions of people on twitter. We conducted sentiment
analysis of more than half a million tweets before referendum day. 51% tweets supported leaving EU and only
27% tweeted about remaining. Out of 327K tweets collected on day of referendum, 167K showed support for
Brexit, 103K tweets were about people showing their support to remain in the EU and remaining tweets were
neutral.
Based on the aforementioned data, we made an accurate prediction that the UK would be leaving the EU. The
sample data size of YouGov and other popular market research companies was very less as compared to us. I
think social media is a key element of the changing political arena. It has become very important for
politicians and parties to engage on social media to stay relevant. Therefore we have already started collecting
data on next potential US Presidential candidates. I believe we can help a politician understand what their
constituents are talking about but also to influence people and track voters. You can check out live insights of
US Presidential candidates on insightspod.com.
I can't mix InsightsPod with the security portfolio of my current company so I am in process of setting up a
new company and raising money for this startup. Would you be interested in investing? It would be to great to
work with you and learn from your experience. Let me know if you want to discuss this on phone or I can
come meet you in NY or SF in last week of July.
Cheers
Zubair
