Subject: Eero wifi test
Hi,
I had a funky time setting the new wifi things up — but only because their support for static IP addresses is
really new and not well implemented. This is the only location that would have this issue, so it's not a major
problem (support was helpful and able to walk me through the resolution).
The need-to-knows:
The wifi network on the 6th floor needed to have a unique name to prevent cross talk with the Apple AirPort
Basestations on the 5th floor. So, the new network is named 71st (the old network is New_71st), the password
is still sarahsarah.
All of the 6th floor is on this "71st" network (iMac, printer, AppleTV, etc), and they're all seeing the 60/6 Mbps
speed which is the max for his TimeWarner connection. So, so far it looks really good.
I did notice that there is a performance hit to the AppleTV's speed if the sliding mirror door is covering the AV
stack. So if the boss is seeing an issue with buffering during streaming or downloads taking a while, sliding that
away from the AV rack may help.
Assuming that they prove to be stable at the level they're currently performing, be great for Palm Beach,
Zorro & Paris. (Eero is onl for use in US/Canada, but they're dual voltage, so if we wanted to order
here and ship to Paris, just need to add adaptersfor the power outlets — everything else should be the
same.)
