Convenings
What makes the Milken Institute more than a think tank? Our unique ability to bring together people with the minds and the
means to take real action on critical issues. In 2013, the Institute convened 125 separate events, with more than 11,000
participants. These range from our trademark Global Conference, to meetings of our Global Capital Markets Advisory Council,
to workshops of nonprofit disease foundations through the Research Acceleration and Innovation Network. Our DC-based
Center for Financial Markets held regular congressional staff briefings and policy roundtables, and our Milken Institute Fellows
in Israel met often to review their work on economic development. Gatherings of Milken Institute Associates, at Global
Conference and elsewhere, connected them with innovative leaders — and each other. Milken Institute Forums, open to the
public, brought inspiring speakers and thought-provoking authors to our Santa Monica headquarters.
