Subject:</=> SPECIAL WEATHER UPDATE--- YET ANOTHER TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMS IN THE=ATLANTIC
The National Hurricane Center has in=tiated advisories on Tropical Depression Twelve (TD 12) located more t=an
1,450 miles to the east of the of the Virgin Islands near 14.1=degrees north, 43.4 degrees west. The depression has top
winds of 35 m=les per hour.
TD 12 is moving to the west at 12 miles per hour.=A motion towards the west-northwest at a slower forward
speed is expected d=ring the next two days. The depression is expected to become a tropical sto=m later today and
could become a hurricane over the weekend.
As TD 12 moves over warm waters during the n=xt few days, further strengthening seems likely. Forecast
models suggest th=t the depression will turn to the west-northwest soon as it moves towards a=weakness in the
subtropical ridge that is related partially to another weat=er system in the Atlantic.
While there is much uncertainty in the long range fore=ast, the projections keep this system well to the
northeast of the Lesser A=tilles. Based on the current forecast t=ack, the center of TD 12 should pass some 429 miles
east-northeas= of the Virgin Islands on Sunday as a Category One hurr=cane with top winds of 90 miles per hour.
