Dennis M. Walcott is Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education. As Chancellor, Walcott ove
system of more than 1,700 schools with LI million students, 136,000 employees, and a $23 billion budget. Apj
Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2011, prior to his appointment as Chancellor, Walcott served as Mayor Bloombe
Deputy Mayor for Education and Community Development for more than eight years. Before joining the Bloo
Administration in 2002, he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the New York Urban League.
Chancellor Walcott graduated from New York City public schools in Queens. Chancellor Walcott and his wife
have four children: Dejeanne, Dana, Shatisha and Timmy; and three grandsons, Justin, Gavin, and Christian.
