I had a successful career at Bear Stearns from 1976 to 1981, when I left the firm to start my own firm. Since 1981, I have operated a financial consulting firm advising some of the World's wealthiest. I structured my unique financial consulting service as a one-stop shop for billionaires. Most of these individuals have a personal accountant, an investment advisor, an insurance agent, an in-house legal counsel, and external legal counsel in specialty areas, including securities law, trust and estates, tax planning, international law, maritime and aviation law, bankruptcy law, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions. They also tend to have an ever-growing cadre of administrative support reacting to the ever-increasing demands of the personal and business lives of their employers. As new issues and demands develop, additional professionals and staff are retained to deal with them. There is little planning and coordination of the various moving pieces. The result is that the structure and organization of the financial lives of most of these wealthy individuals have been built up over time haphazardly, are disjointed, inefficient and in some cases counterproductive. In that way, they are like many personal homes that have been built up over time, then renovated, then modified with new additions created at odd sections of the home to accommodate the increasing size and changing needs of the family. The result is a bit of a mess. Unless it is torn down and rebuilt from scratch, you wind up with garage doors opening when someone flicks a light switch in the bathroom. My business is that of a EFTA00799469 financial architect, first creating as-builts for the existing financial structure of my clients' personal and business lives, then evaluating how best to reorganize that structure. Funding the Mind-Brain Behavior Committee at Harvard University, funding the Evolutionary Dynamics Institute at Harvard University, donations to the rarefied sciences, including quantum computing, quantum gravity, algebraic topology and esoteric manifold theories, funding research in mathematics and genetics and sponsoring the Artificial Intelligence Symposium 15 years ago which was held at the University of the Virgin Islands and hosted thirty of the top computing scientists from around the country to address various forms of artificial intelligence, and the Physics Symposium "Confronting Gravity" 10 years ago which was also held in the U.S. Virgin Islands to provide an interdisciplinary framework for interactions between five Nobel Laureates and faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, educators and the public. Top Misrepresentations about my case are as follows: • The girls who came to the house in Palm Beach were brought there by their own friends, who found them on their own initiative. The girls came to the house of their own will having been informed of what could take place and having been informed that they would earn money for the activities they engaged in. They were not lured to the house with false promises. They specifically came to the house to provide a service in exchange for money. Those who came once often called the house to request to return and did so again of their own will. When they did, they brought their boyfriends with them and other friends with them who waited for them. • The underage girl interviewed by police when the investigation first started specifically told the police that she told me and my staff that she was 18 years old and that she was told by the person who brought here there that anyone, including her, who was brought to the house would not be allowed in the house if they were not 18 years old. Indeed several women gave statements to the police that they were told this or that they told this to others they brought to the house. • The story that is repeated again and again in the news about me purchasing a 12-year old sex slave and me entertaining 13 and 14 year olds, comes from pleadings in a civil case filed by a young women who admitted to being a prostitute and a stripper and whose allegations were never cross examined in a court of law, never meaningfully tested and were never adjudicated. In fact, her allegations were contradicted by prior testimony she gave to the FBI under oath and only after the government granted her specific request for immunity from criminal prosecution. When she gave that sworn testimony to the FBI, having received immunity, she could have made any allegations that she wanted. What she told the FBI and the US Attorney's Office was EFTA00799471  that she wanted to marry me. She told them that I was an awesome man and that she hoped that nothing would happen to me. Once she became aware of the prospects of a monetary recovery against me, however, she changed her story from singing my praises to a vicious condemnation of me. As for the women alleged in pleadings to be my underage sex slave, she has travel documentation to demonstrate that she was well over the age of 18 when she first came to this country. • The settlements with women who sued me were a requirement of my agreement with the federal government. In that agreement, I did not admit liability. I was required under that agreement to pay a list of women whose identities would not be provided to me until after I signed the agreement and until after I began serving a jail sentence. When I signed the agreement, I knew nothing of the names or claims of the girls on the list that the government would provide to me after I was in jail. My attorneys were actually told that I would have the opportunity to dispute women on that list, but when I sought to dismiss claims of women on that list, including women who I never even met, I was threatened to be held in violation of my agreement and was forced to withdraw any challenge to those claims. I was forced to offer money to settle the claims of the women on that list and if they refused to accept the money I offered, the amount of which offer was specified by statute, I was required to pay the fees of the legal counsel retained by those women to litigate against me. This is the supposed sweetheart deal I received from the federal government. • I received a 30-month sentence, consisting of an 18-month jail sentence followed by another 12- month sentence of severe monitored house arrest, based on a conviction of two offenses. One offense was for solicitation of prostitution without reference to the age of the person solicited or the identity of any person solicited. The second offense was for procuring a person under the age of 18 for prostitution and related to a single person. No other criminal offenses based on the claims by any other person were ever charged against me. There has never been a criminal charge issued against me for sexual molestation of minors or any similar offense. No civil claims or allegations made against me were ever materially tested or adjudicated. • When my legal team sought to look into witness allegations with respect any claims against me under consideration by the federal government, my team was warned off by the government. Moreover, the federal government never provided my legal team with any information about the government's intended claims or the information that the government had to support those claims. The federal government maintained that it had no obligation to provide that information because it had not charged me with a crime. So there has never been a full and fair opportunity for me to challenge any allegations asserted against me, though those allegations have provided the centerpiece for numerous pleadings filed against me in civil actions motivated by the hopes of substantial monetary recoveries, which have then been eagerly repeated in the media. • I served 13 months of the 18-month jail sentence which is not a single day shorter than the same term that any other Palm Beach inmate who behaved properly and followed the rules would receive. I then served a full 12 months of severe and fully monitored house arrest. I am aware that I bear responsibility for past bad judgment. I have never attacked anyone claiming to be a victim, despite repeated vitriolic attacks against me and those associated with me in media reports and litigation pleadings filed by anonymous claimants. In many cases, the media reports and allegations EFTA00799472 in pleadings have been challenged, denied and/or demonstrated to be untrue by others with little attention paid by the media, which continues to publish the same challenged and disproven allegations. However, I have no desire to rehash these stories about events from over 12 years ago. I have paid my debt for that past chapter in my life in ways both known and unknown, and seek to move forward as a positive and productive force. 18.
