Inaugural Summit Brings Together Public Health Leaders;
CDC Director to Give Zika Update
Next week, hundreds of leaders will gather in Washington, D.C., for the first-ever Milken Institute
Public Health Summit. Drawn from various industries, government, universities, research centers
and the world of philanthropy, participants will advance public health efforts worldwide by
fostering greater consensus among public and private institutions so they can deploy their
resources more effectively. At the summit, more than 20 panels will explore a range of topics and
CDC Director Tom Frieden will provide an update on the Zika virus emergency. Tied to the event,
the Institute will release four new research reports delving into current issues in public health.
"The summit continues work that the Institute has done for decades on the impact of advances in
medical research and public health, both to improve lives and foster prosperity," says CEO Mike
Klowden.
