Few notes: --EXPLORATORY PLANNING In putting together this tour workplan, two things popped up for me: (1) As we strategize, we should make sure this tour is seen as a tactic nested in a larger rollout strategy. I think it has a bigger role in HRC's mind--as it should. My assumption (which may turn out to be incorrect) is that there will be some leaking of the exploratory and her tour around the DNC meeting...she will make a fairly important speech at the DNC meeting...there will be some sort of finance strategy operating in the background. So, there are a lot of moving pieces and I want to make sure we don't work on the tour in isolation. Obvious, but worth flagging. (2) I think we should be deliberate about what we know and don't know and when we make what decisions about the tour. I think it would be a mistake, for example, to plan out the tour today...I even think it's a bit of a misnomer to call it a "listening tour" today, since we may learn that voters are desperate to hear her SHARE something. Who knows. I tried to design the timeline so we're ratifying decisions as we have the information we need. Fairly self explanatory, but I think it's important to be deliberate about it. --STAFFING I think it will be necessary to have core communications, political, finance staff on board in time to participate in the exploratory announcement and tour planning.
