It consisted of presentations from the dean and multiple small group discussions (establishing CDM's brand, how to create leaders within dentistry, how to take advantage of new dental technology at CDM, how do we create a more effective learning environment and continue to attract top students moving forward, how effective is our current business model). There were many more ideas discussed, but for the sake of readability, my notes only have things that are pertinent to us now. I'll put a more extensive document up on Dropbox later for those who are curious, but essentially Dean Stohler and the faculty have an inspiring plan in place to have CDM blow every other school out of the water and become the premier dental school in the country (gotta aim high). And in spite of and perhaps because of the trying times we've had with the facilities and curriculum here, I believe that his goal is definitely within reach. I'd like the dean to have a lunch and learn with our class so that you can all have an opportunity to meet and hear from him, and I'll update when we get confirmation.
