Jeffrey: Congratulations on coming back to the world of the free traveler. I had
planned to email you on your day of freedom, but my own travels have been.. well,
eventful. In seattle on the 15th, ready to leave for Australia on the 17th and
visiting the INT at UW, I went with Nancy to an event at the pacific science
center.. and did something I never do... I left my briefcase with computer,
passport.. everything.. all files, in back seat of car.. Car was broken into 15 min
later, windows smashed, and everything taken.. it was devastating in a new way..
but miraculously by 2 pm the next day I had a new passport, so I could travel.. had
my assistant fedex another laptop I have.. bought a new mac air to replace the
stolen one.. replaced broken glass on car, redid bank acct. numbers, and then and
headed to Oz.. then, flight cancelled after 4 hours on tarmac on the 17th..
meaning we were delayed a day in vancouver, but had a nice day visiting there..
but got in to Oz on eve of the 20th.. yesterday was full on getting the new
computer up and running as I have a lecture today.. and driving in I remember I
had intended to email you at midnight on the 20th..
anyway... best wishes, and I look forward to traveling with you soon!
