Joe Titone
Former Florida legislator Joe Titone is a Broward County criminal defense lawyer and personal injury
attorney with more than 3o years of experience. After graduating with a business degree from Pace
University, he began his career as a Senior Investigator in the Compliance and Securities division of the
New York Stock Exchange in 1971. No stranger to hard work and ambition, Joe attended Brooklyn Law
School in the evenings where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1973. Before beginning his career in law he
worked for Hornblower & Weeks, Hemphill-Noyes, Inc. as their Compliance Director managing their
compliance with the NYSE for ii offices in Arizona and California. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as the
Bronx County Assistant District Attorney for the Grand Jury and Homicide Division in New York where he
honed his skills for an impressive career in criminal law.
In 1977 Joe took his talent and relocated to Fort Lauderdale
Florida where he worked as a Public Defender until entering private practice to focus on criminal
litigation. As a public defender, he won five consecutive felony cases including a highly publicized capital
case. His aggressive approach to defense strategy led him to win 8o percent of his cases between 1981 and
1991. Joe's success as a criminal defense attorney over those 10 years laid the platform for his rise as a
community leader.
In 1982 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives after defeating the Vice Mayor of
Coral Springs and another well known local politician. During his political career as the Representative for
Northwest Broward County Joe served as the Vice Chair on the House Judiciary Committee. He was
subsequently reelected in 1984 and served on the Residential Planned Development Study Commission.
During his time in office, he became heavily involved in the restructuring of Florida's laws regarding
judicial candidacy. His influence changed the laws that would benefit Florida citizens for years to come.
Under his leadership the law now states that any candidate seeking a judiciary position must have been a
practicing attorney for a minimum of five years.
After representing his community in public office, he returned to private practice to continue perusing
justice for Florida citizens. He currently represents Click Interconnect, Inc. an application service provider
for internet telecommunications based in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to Broward County, Joe serves
clients in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and other areas within the state of Florida.
Throughout his distinguished career, Joe has represented large corporations, small business and
