From: <1 To: "Jeffrey" <jeevacation()gmail.com> Subject: Who asks us to lead? Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2018 05:32:04 +0000 Hi Jeffrey An old colleague once joked he would have shown more leadership qualities if someone had told him to. Meanwhile we probably have too much "leadership" of the type shown by those who want to be leaders! Nevertheless, helping groups achieve meaningful things is as important as ever. Which is the approach I've been working on. As we are connected on Linkedln, I want you to know about the leadership conference and course I've put together for September in the beautiful English Lake District. If not for you, perhaps someone else in your team could find it useful? I'm pleased we will be working with some senior execs and change agents from the UN, big business and NGOs. If you are ruminating on our imminent demise due to climate chaos, then me too. It's difficult. One way I'm responding is to fundraise for open source software that supports the re-localisation of economies. If interested, take a look at our project here. As this topic of "deep adaptation" to our climate tragedy is something framing my future work and life, I have started a Linkedln group to explore the implications. Meanwhile, in another universe, if you are interested in blockchain and alternative currencies then come to the free UN event on that, which I'm chairing in October. And my free course on that topic starts again next month. In advance, please forgive any tardiness in replying to emails, as I'm on a writing retreat while helping a yoga centre organise a season of free activities for personal growth. If by coincidence you are in Bali during the next month, do come see us here. Thanks, Jem Bendell Professor of Sustainability Leadership, University of Cumbria (www.iflas.info) PS: Yes, this is a standard email. It is compliant with EU rules, as we are connected via Linkedln and I'm sending emails based on a data sync with Linkedln (that took me a little time to work out). They store the data not I. As I won't be sending another generic update this year, we could stay in touch via my newsletter here. Or via twitter. To disconnect with me on Linkedln (!!) then my profile is here. EFTA01005603
