Big oil pretends that the stranded assets of underground oil have value on their balance sheets, and sell stock to gullible public on that basis. Nothing disappears faster than a counterfeit currency, discovered. After years of *lax Republican regulation,* the banks fake mortgage backed securities were exposed and collapsed. In order to prevent the complete collapse of the economy, the taxpayers had to rescue the economy. Another example of how Republicans privatize profit and socialize risk. Today *Republican corporate welfare* sends huge subsidies and tax breaks to the fossil fuel industry. This makes alternatives such as renewables and nuclear power look more expensive than they should. The attempt it is not working. The only reason Republicans have so much power is because they have dinosaur friends. America's people can take power back from the oil barons and build a prosperous economy. *When energy gets cheaper, we get more jobs. But we also get cheaper products, and cheaper transportation. Oil is very expensive energy, compared to what is right around the corner with today's technology. * The Whale oil industry didn't die when we ran out of whales. It got replaced by rock oil.
