To: [email protected]] From: David Grosof on behalf of David Grosof Sent: Thur 5/6/2010 7:06:42 AM Subject: I need to talk with you on the phone in the next week Hi, One of my favorite activities in San Francisco is a storytelling series called Porchlight. It's roughly like The Moth in NYC, if you've heard that. I've been selected to tell a ten minute story about my experiences as a summer intern on Wall Street. I have plenty of anecdotes to string together and embellish about practical jokes, Bruce McM., Ace, without distressing you, but I want to check with you to make sure the boundaries are clear. [I've been telling folks about opening, sorting and trying to make sense of the mail to the Cosmo Bachelor of the Month for 25 years....) It's easy for anyone to connect me to the firms at which I worked....but I thought of a pretty good way to fragment one person's identity into a few others, retain some essential truth of my experiences and make it quite entertaining. I can make time to speak with you almost any time but since I'm in California, I prefer after 11:30 a.m. EDT. My mobile is still 415 846-3210. The reason I need to talk to you soon is that I'm telling a story on May 17. The Porchlight series is not broadcast or blogged about, but it's got a good audience of 200 or so every month. I love it. Stories are told, not memorized or read, on a theme. The theme this month is "The Last Taboo: Money." The website is www.porchlightsf.com if you're curious. I'm the most dedicated fan, have recruited storytellers, suggested themes, helped get the show back on track when it was slipping, etc. I hope you're well. It's been a tough month: a good friend -- a brilliant top graduate of India's Institute of Technology -- died suddenly after a toughly fought recovery from a spectacular medical f*&"-up, my mom's significant other (since 1975!) is facing a difficult battle with bladder cancer and a very close friend's loved one has been diagnosed with a miserable gastric cancer.... Best, David EFTA_R1_01492856 EFTA02424745
