Subject: Donation to NEURO.tv

Dear Mr. Epstein,
Mr. Kahn has expressed some worries about NEURO.tv not being a 501(c)3 organization yet. I wanted to let you
know personally that we have applied for the status and that we should be obtaining it in the weeks to come, with
the possibility of sending you a retroactive receipt for tax exemption for the donation. I have no doubt that our
application for the status is perfect and will be accepted as soon as reviewed by the government.
NEURO.tv is not yet a Duke organization yet, therefore we cannot pass the money through Duke as suggested by
Mr. Kahn, but I want to let you know that your help at this crucial moment in the history of our organization will
be necessary both to start the initiative and insure the success of our Kickstarter campaign, which will be useful
in displaying an image of public approval of our project and broad support by the scientific community. We are
in very serious discussions with Duke to make NEURO.tv a Duke-sponsored organization right after the end of
the campaign, in 2014 the latest.
There are many projects ahead for me and Diana including the writing of a general public book about science
and important initiatives targeted at improving the public's understanding of neuroscience. Your help with
NEURO.tv will help us at a critical time in our lives and will allow us to gather a large support base for all that's
ahead.
Diana and I will be forever grateful for the trust that you have shown in us and I hope that the fact that the
501(c)3 status has not been officially obtained yet will not change your decision to support this unique initiative
which will bring top neuroscientists from leading universities in discussions that everyone will have access to.
Thank you for your trust and support,
Jean-Francois Gariepy
