had to answer the question on how you could get a better deal without the threat on Iran’s western border posed by Sadam unless you were willing to replace the threat of Sadam with an American presence in Iraq that was 300,000 plus similar to the cold war build up in West Germany . Anything short of that and merely stating I can negotiate a better deal , without a buildup of significant American presence and the expenditure of significant American dollars on Iran’s borders to replace the counter balance of Sadam is pure demagoguery . The question for Jeb and others is not whether a better deal could be negotiated, but how can one be negotiated without a large expenditure of tax dollars and an American presence on the border of Iran . The second question is can Russia and China be trusted, is it in their interest , to enforce this deal. If it is , then there can be no better deal without an American presence, if they cannot be trusted then the other option is do nothing and continue unilateral American sanctions or the American presence option. Everyone knows merely strategically bombing Iran will not produce the result desired or create any stability in the region. In summary Jeb should be forced to answer the q ,how can you negotiate a better deal if Iran is no longer threatened by its neighbor Iraq, and the corollary Isn’t it true the only reason Iran was able to accelerate its nuclear program was because of the American invasion of Iraq.
