weekend Trump questioned McCain’s heroism. Shows a clip of Trump’s
statements. Says that many people felt offended and immediately called him
out and shows pictures of Rubio, Christie, Bush, and Jindal. It was only on
Monday that McCain responded in an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe; he
said that Trump’s comment was “totally out of place” and that Trump doesn’t
owe him an apology but instead owes one to all veterans and their families.
Shows a clip of McCain’s interviewing where he says that there are so many
people that have or are currently serving and have been POWs, and
denigrating that service offends veterans. Earlier in the morning, Trump
was interviewed on the Today Show by Matt Lauer and said that McCain had
done a horrible job for veterans, accused the media of distorting his
words, and defended himself saying that McCain was a hero but that Trump
wasn’t a fan of him. Other GOP candidates like Rick Perry, Jeb Bush, and
Scott Walker quickly criticized Trump’s comments. However, “in spite of all
the scandal and petitions from GOP leaders, Trump refuses to apologize.”
Trump said in a USA Today editorial that the other GOP candidates are
“failed politicians” and that he doesn’t need a lecture from any of
