appear to be soo out of touch with reality that i think you should at this stage either lay it out. or say little. 1
you are NOT gratified satisfied! happy or ok with this. i have no idea to whom you are addressing these silly
statements. ? do you think it helps you if the public thinks you beilve the way you have been treated is fair,
gratifying. satisfyling. . I have no idea what you are up to. and prpbably should just keep it that way.

Actually Nancy reminded me why I had what I put in there. The last thing the press reported was that the
Dean recommended my dismissal. They will jump on that if I do not address it.. If I don't have anything in
there not only will I will be asked about it but the statement simply looks like I had a choice between
dismissal and retirement..
SO, here is my proposed revised press statement. Purely factual
Today the University closed their pending employment review process against me, and contemporaneously
I announced my intention to retire from my position as Professor in the School of Earth and Space
Exploration and the Physics Department at ASU, at the end of this academic year, May 16, 2019. I feel
vindicated that the University has accepted my retirement request and agreed to settle the employment
process with no admission of wrongdoing. It is worth stressing that following the University Investigation
it remains true that none of my students, faculty colleagues, postdoctoral research associates, or
participants in the Origins events I led over the the past decade at ASU has issued any complaints to the
University regarding my behavior. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences had recommended my
dismissal on July 31 following the completion of investigations by the Office of Equity and Inclusion. I
then appealed the Dean's decision and I presented new evidence and information that undermined the
credibility of the claims, and a number of the claimants. Subsequent to that the Dean and I met for
Conciliation. I am gratified by this result. I look forward to continuing my writing, research, and public
outreach activities elsewhere after retiring from ASU.

Ah. But I think it may be brilliant. If they don't respond, I win. If they do, it goes to the disparagement
clause and they will be the first to show that voluntary release of potentially disparaging facts is
acceptable. :)

I would take out the bolded language—it will only prompt them to respond, and I worry it is spiking
