From: To: Subject: Re: Spanish TDY Proposal Date: Thu, 30 Jan 2020 22:13:32 +0000 Importance: Normal I think this is greatM but should you make it broader than just your gang work? Maybe you can cite situations like mass deployment situations (Orlando)where you needed translators or to communicate updates to your victims in Argentina. > On Jan 30, 2020, at 4:35 PM, wrote: >- > From: > Date: Jan 30, 2020 3:51 PM > Sub'ect: S anish TDY Pro osal > To: > Cc: > Hi Amanda - as we discussed previously I have been requesting to learn spanish as the demand has increased in my case load. As I am assigned to the squads who investigate Spanish speaking gangs including MS-13,18th street and Surenos 13; there has been an increase in Spanish speaking victims and family members. Both the SSA's and case agents on these squads have requested that I learn to speak spanish in at least law enforcement proficiency; which would reduce the burden of assisting these victims and to allow them to focus on the investigative piece. > Recently a victim of Jeffrey Epstein is residing in Spain and requesting therapy referrals. As this is not an area that the Legat is experienced in; it has been difficult to find resources resulting in the victim staying in crisis. > As I have been told that learning Spanish would be faster if were immersed in the culture. My proposal is to allow me to tdy to the embassy in Spain where I could learn to speak Spanish in addition to creating appropriate counseling regerrala for any FBI victims located in Spain and Europe. >- EFTA01650623
