Dear John,
Just off the phone with Remo - thank you for joining us in his stead amidst his urgent commitment -
Please find attached an updated schedule of the inaugural UC Multi-Campus Symposium on Music Research - I
invited Remo and Ami to attend the Friday "bullet talks" for UC faculty and students, which should include an
interesting sample of faculty, students, and research projects relevant to our non-profits' mutual interest in music,
health and medicine.
The Thurs night event is an open public event - please extend our invitation to those lectures and performance to
your family, friends, and your colleague at Remo Health Rhythms.
Thurs at 1:30-3:30p, The Institute for Music & Brain Science Board is meeting at the Redwood Room in the
UCLA Faculty Center for lunch and a meeting. We were planning to present an overview of the proposal I have
been discussing with Remo re: a prospective randomized-controlled trial examining the potential benefits of
group drumming on gait, balance, and fall prevention in Parkinson Disease, Alzheimer Disease, and normal
aging. Falling has reached epidemic proportions in the elderly and carries with it a high incidence of mortality at
1 year. Remo assured me you were even more knowledgable than he about how to desi n the stud and wanted
to be sure I extended the invitation to the Board meeting. Please visit us a Board
Chair Dr Robert Freeman, who is delivering the Keynote at the Symposium Thurs night, will be there along with
several other Board members.
I look forward to meeting you Thurs at 1:30p! Please don't hesitate to text or call my cell for any reason -=
Yours,
Mark
