We live in the greatest city, in the greatest state, in the greatest country in the world, and I am so proud to represent it in the U.S. Congress. I am looking forward to this year in large part because I am confident Democrats will make significant advances in the upcoming elections, but also because I will be celebrating my 50th birthday, and it is my hope you will be a part of this event. You will be supporting me so I can continue my efforts to elect Democrats to office and return Congress' focus to the issues that matter to the American people. As I said, America is the greatest nation in the world, but times are tough right now. If we are going to remain strong, we need to start making progress on the things that matter: creating jobs, preserving Social Security and Medicare, and keeping America's middle class vibrant and growing. Unfortunately, the Republican-controlled Congress has spent most of its time threatening to shut down the government. What we need is a Congress and a President who can work in partnership with one another, who can get things done to move America forward together.
