Quick update on Steve's online education fund is that they raised $3mm and are off creating some initial coursework now with USC. I write to you for a different reason altogether. I will make the "pitch" quickly. I was raised in a pretty agnostic Jewish household (British mother who came here sponsored by Chaim Weitzman) and Brooklyn father who was not a believer. In my old age, I've become pretty observant...and keep the sabbath now. If I had to sum it up in a sentence, the more I study about our faith, the more I feel I'm getting closer to the truth. So... We started a synagogue with a South African rabbi and have grown it to over 200 people in three years. We've identified a building on the UWS. This could be an investment opportunity...or it could be a philanthropic one. If you're at all interested, the rest of the story is below. Believe me, I wouldn't reach out to you if this wasn't so important to me. I hope you don't find this too forward of me to send this to you - built I feel this opportunity is so unique, I am compelled to share it. Best, Daniel p.s. Hoping you've seen all the press around our latest TV show, "Farmed and Dangerous" on Hulu funded entirely by Chipotle - a satire on industrial farming. Daniel M. We are really pressed to find the right partner ASAP. Everyone agrees that establishing The Beis at 555 West End Avenue would be a game-changer for communal life in Manhattan. Please review your contacts again, and reach out to those whom you think appropriate for this project. Your investment of time and effort can yield eternal dividends, as you will be the one responsible for ensuring the new home for The Beis. EFTA00684369 The Beis does not need to own its own building; it solely needs the right to use the facility. Although the building is larger than the current needs of The Beis-as it provides seven floors and over 45,000 square feet—The Beis must not lose this opportunity. The location of this facility is key to the continued growth of The Beis. There are many potential options which would enable The Beis to operate at 555 West End Avenue. One option is for a donor's charitable foundation to purchase the building, and to lease it to The Beis at a nominal amount for ten years. During this time, The Beis will cover the operating and remodeling costs. The Beis will initially sublet floors four through six, or the donor will be able to use this space for the needs of their charitable foundation. At the end of the ten-year lease, The Beis will have an option to purchase the building from the owner at fair market value. This arrangement will serve to protect the donor's investment. No official asking price has been listed. The Catholic Archdiocese of New York will accept bids until Wednesday, March 5, 2014. This property of seven floors and over 45,000 square feet, is considered an exceptional real estate opportunity, and is expected to fetch a price of approximately $50 million. Our goal is to either find a charitable foundation who will allow us to use the facility, as stated above, or to find a generous individual who will make a significant donation to secure the naming rights of the building. Once we have this lead gift, many others have pledged that they will follow. This is a unique moment to establish a pre-eminent center for Jewish life and continuity in the most densely populated Jewish neighborhood in Manhattan. Establishing such a facility in Manhattan not only impacts New York Jewry, but as Manhattan is at the crossroads of the world, The Beis will become a welcoming home for Jews worldwide. We are sending you the descriptive documents in both a pdf and Word. You are free to edit the word document and sign it with your own names, or alter it however you see fit. We are further attaching a set of plans for The Beis and the listing book and bidding form from the broker - Massey Knakal. Accomplishing this goal requires boldness and vision. Time is of the essence. All bids must be submitted by March 5, 2014 at 5pm. Thanks again for your assistance. With Kind Regards, Rabbi and Adina Shippel +1-917-613-3471 EFTA00684370 EFTA00684371
