In my first call he immediately told me that after speaking with his team he regrets stating he would take it at 1.5 done up because it would be a bad deal for both sides. He patiently listened to my counter offer and said he would discuss it with his team and call me back. Doug is an engine guy and has a lot of engine experts as his disposal, so when he calls back (relatively quickly) he has a guy named LEO "the -219 guru" on the phone and Doug tells him to explain to me what he just told Doug. Leo says that 'when we do the repair we will be required to re-do the 8 year engine corrosion inspections, and when we do, you will be told that 7 & 8 have crapped out'. He says 'These engines are only worth $100 per cycle ($200K) and it does not make economic sense to spend 200-250k on something that is only worth 200k when it is repaired, especially since 7 & 8 remain at probable risk.' At that point in the conversation, Doug said he needed to take another call and told me he would have to call me back. Larry I do not think there is any way he will do this at the 1.5 million any more. If we give them the assurances they will want, and if 7 & 8 prove to be bad, the bill could be another 250k per side to buy another set of 2000 cycle engines. I am not sure the 1.5 repaired is even in our best interest. As soon as he calls me back I will update you.
