Hi Jeffrey,
I know how involved your are with science and research.
Nathan Gianneschi is
I asked him to send information about the work he is doing as UCSD. This guy is brilliant and I know you
would enjoy him very much. He is a lot like you. He has won awards worldwide and has published several
papers.
This may be something you would like to help bring to fruition.
If you meet this talented young man, you might want him for your own research team!
Also, I am sending a picture of the new man in my life!
Love you and miss you very much!

Dear M,
Find attached a PDF document that describes in three pages what we're doing.
This is absolutely confidential as I'm sure you're aware. I have submitted something
similar as a proposal to the Packard Foundation. Have a read and let me know
what you think.
I would add that one thing that would be transformative would be to obtain funds that
would allow us to recruit the very best graduate students to our Chemical Biology program
at UCSD. This includes my lab and others. This is how you change the game at a research
institute. We have great ideas, and NEED the best PhD students to pull it off. For a program
like the one proposed, most of the money goes to student support if the research is done
at the university. i.e. their stipends etc. If we had the funds to give say, $10,000 bonuses
to students when they sign on to our program, we could truly advance much of this work.
For reference, they make $27,000 a year in their normal stipend. So, one year at $10,000
would be a HUGE recruiting tool.
Just something to think about.
Thanks
