Subject: [EXTERNAL] Great St. James
Jonathan,
<=r>Erika Kellerhals (LSJ/GSJ representative) and I did site visits of both L=ttle St. James and Great St. James yesterday,
and it was brought to our att=ntion that on Great St. James, two temporary barge landings were created po=t hurricane
by the staff to assist in the delivery of emergency and relief =upplies to the island. A significant number of the staff had
their homes de=troyed or rendered uninhabitable by the storms and they took refuge post-hu=ricane at GSJ. Massive
amounts of supplies for these employees were brought=onto GSJ in the immediate aftermath of the storms.
O=e is near the location of the proposed new dock across from Little St. Jame= and one is in Christmas Cove. Both are
rock lined and rubble filled =nd extend approximately 10%15' off shore. We are aware that these we=e not permitted.
Despite repeated attempts, the staff were unable reach any=ne at DPNR prior to construction. Mr. Epstein understands
that these =ill need to be removed but was concerned that if they were removed prior to=your arrival that it might be
misconstrued that he was trying to hide what =as done. Should we go head and start their removal or would you prefe=
to conduct the site visit so you can make recommendations of how it should=be done?
