But first of all, I would like to update you about the work in the Library. As you well know, I have contract with you to wax the Library. When we removed the Tapestries, I found the wooden panels very, very dry. As a matter of fact, now that we moved the Italian Cabinet to the center of the room, you can see the difference between already treated panels and newly exposed panels ( wall adjacent to the street ) that are lacking wonderful vibrant color and life. They are very pale, due to dryness. What I actually did is to change the method of the treatment, because the boards in the panels were so dry, they started to "scale". I decided to treat the wood with combination of oils, predominately, Linseed Oil, Lemon Oil, Danish Oil and some additions. I saturated the surface with Oils and let it absorb for 4-6 hours. Result was stunning. The panels became color rich and beautiful. Next we removed excess Oil and the surface became thy to touch. Next we applied Renaissance Wax. We applied the Wax two or three times. Have I applied the Wax only, the wooden panels would become pale after two-three days. The Tops of two Cabinets on the North side of the Room, were scratched so badly, that I removed them to my studio, so I could fill the scratches ( which went through the finish and removed the stain in the process ) and re-polish the Tops. The inner edges of the Doors were not stained and inner Door Frame as well. I air-brushed the color, so all is uniform right now. I did this and I never asked you for additional money on this all additional work. I would like to do my very best for my customers. Since I moved to NY three years ago, I would like to establish credibility and new client base. As far as the Stairs are concern, the new thing that came out is the old carpet glue, which was hidden under the rug under-layment. The glue is old and very hard. Instead of sanding it and eventually making dents in the stairs, the best way to treat the Steps is to remove completely; glue and finish. Even before you can start this work, you have to de-nail hundreds of nails, screws and staples. The under- EFTA00866039 moldings are not immune to the damage. We may replace them.
