RE: Donald Trump Chamber of Commerce Speech
_____________________________________________________________
Event Details: Donald Trump speaks at Chamber of Commerce in Nashua, NH. Lasted about 50 minutes.
Attendees/Audience: N/A
Press: Captured from http://www.c-span.org/video/?299472-1/donald-trump-remarks-nashua-nh
Summary of Event: Donald did a speech similar to the speeches he gives now. He did call himself not a nice guy and lady during questions asked him about that.
Key Points:
0:00
Donald Trump: Wow, thank you very much. What a nice group. Thank you very much it’s a great honor being with you. I have to tell you this is sort or where it all started for me because in 1989 a friend of mine would you do me a favor and come up to NH and make a speech. I did and it was really a speech on success and a motivational type speech. The nice part about NH is everybody works and we love workers. I think that’s why I like NH. A lot of workers, but I made this speech and I left and came back to NY and I heard I was running for President. So, that was the first time I heard about running for President for Donald Trump. It was very interesting. I will say all of my life very successful people can’t run for high office. I’ve just heard it so many times. It was interesting because nobody said it was going to be easy. I had know idea I would get hammered like I’ve been hammered over the last 3 or 4 weeks. It’s actually I think a compliment I am not sure I went as an example to the Washington Speakers Bureau dinner in Washington. It was very interesting. The Washington Correspondents dinner packed with people it was an amazing event actually. I’ve been there before and I knew what I was getting into it’s sort of the lion’s den. The President got up and very respectfully said things and he said a lot about me and they were jokes. He had a picture of the White House with Trump on top of it and some other things. There was a comedian who got up and said things about me. I looked at my wife and asked if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Am I supposed to be honored or am I supposed to hide under the table? I sort of just sat there and listened. I was actually a little bit amazing. I will say it’s been an amazing period of time for me. I am not a professional politician which I think is possibly an asset other than our great mayor who is a great great leader right? I thinks is turned out to be largely an asset according to a lot of people. I took on the President I was very very strong in saying put up your birth certificate. I was very strong on it. Now whether I right in doing that or wrong doing that I don’t care. Why not show it? Why did it take so long? I was honored I was able to get him to do it. I guess he will continue in that whole debate and it will rage and everything else, but my thing and always has been from day one has been jobs. It’s been the economy. I’ve built a great business. In bad times we’ve made great times. Our country is in serious trouble like it's never been before. 3 or 4 years ago you’ve never heard the word trillions. Now everything is trillion. Deficits, debt and budgets it’s trillions. People don’t see a way to get out of it. My businesses can be good, but they can’t be good if our country is going down down down. It’s got a very big shot at doing that. I am a very no tax person. I can tell you if President Obama is reelected I think your taxes are going to go through the roof. I do believe he’s holding them down now so he can get through this election. I’ve said it before I’ve met with a great group of folks and some of the real community leaders. We had a very frank discussion and I said look if he gets in office I honestly believe that our taxes are going to go to a level they haven’t been in a long time. That is not going to be good for the country and that’s not going to be good for businesses. It’s not going to be good for NH it’s not going to be good for no one.
5:12
So, we have a real problem and problem we also have we don’t use our best people. Negotiation is an art. I’ve seen it over many years. I know the guys in NY. I know the good ones I know the bad ones I can practically tell you who does good deals who does the bad deals. The fact is it’s an absolute art and we don’t use the right people. As an example I say all of the time China this year is going to make 300 billion dollars off of this country. Call it profit. Beyond that they are taking our jobs because they are making our product. So they make our product and take our jobs. They do it through manipulation of their currency very simply. Then the President of China comes to the US and we hold a beautiful evening at the White House for him. In other words we honor a man who has taken advantage of this country. Now, I don’t blame him. If you can get away with it why not do it? They then go out and buy our debt and and we pay them interest. The whole thing is unbelievable. You look at what OPEC is doing to us. These folks sit around a table you probably saw last week Saudi Arabia cut back oil so they can keep the prices high. We don’t have anybody that says that’s not going to happen folks. We protect them. They pay us virtually nothing. We protect South Korea. I purchase TVs from South Korea. You look at what OPEC is doing the worst abuser to the US is OPEC the second is China and then there’s other countries after that. Columbia made 4 billion dollars last year off of us. You wonder where does thinking come from. I am a very proud Republican. I am very proud of our ideas at least most of them. I like Paul Ryan very much, but the plan that was put forward was early. There was no reason to put a plan forward where they were even talking about touching medicare at this point. There is no reason for it. The Republicans have elections to win. The Democrats are doing a number on that plan like I’ve never seen. A very popular republican woman is running for office. She was expected to win easily. The other day in the front page of a major newspaper there’s a story she may not win because she’s having a hard time defending that situation with medicare. The President. I am talking about negotiation the Art of the deal one of the great business books of all time. Everybody read it. Everytime I mention it people applause.
10:10
You’ve got to let him go first. He’s supposed to be the leader. Let him put up a plan. There is so many things going on. I say what is happening to this country. We have a chance to be great again. Honestly right now the way we are doing we are a debtor nation. Think of it. I saw a report recently we are spending 2 billion dollars so Brazil can drill for oil. Why aren’t we drilling for oil in this country. A friend of mine not a real rich guy. He’s always wanted to do this. He bought an airplane. I said oh what kind of plane is it? I said where’s it made? Brazil. I said why in Brazil? He said because I get a 1.2 million dollar tax credit in the US if I buy this plane, and I say what is going on? So, we don’t use our right people. I know wall street very well. I know sort of all of them. Why aren’t we using our smartest greatest business people. We have the best. I would put them against anybody. Instead we use a diplomat. A diplomat studies to be a nice person. I don’t want a nice person. I am not that nice a person. I can tell you I would make this country great again. We had a great victory last week with the killing of Bin Laden that was great. Enhanced interrogation really led us to that. Now, enhanced interrogation another thing we are so politically correct. Nobody ever wants to say it. Isn’t another word for it torture? The people who jumped out of the World Trade Center that was torture. In terms of torture in terms of enhanced interrogation we wouldn’t have caught Bin Laden without it. Numerous people are under investigation for using enhanced interrogation after Sept. 11th. I think those people shouldn’t be under the gun they are under. I don’t think so at all. Now, one of the things that was recently found out. One of Bin Laden’ plans and he had many of them was to bankrupt what was the former Soviet Union which he succeed in doing and now it’s called Russia very powerful smaller version. He wanted to bankrupt the US. We are spending 10 billion dollars a month on building schools. For what? What are we doing. I’ve heard the have tremendous mineral resources in Afghanistan. You know who’s after them China. China is out there trying to get the minerals in Afghanistan. We can’t build schools and roads in our cities. When was the last time you saw a major bridge being built in the US? It doesn’t happen. First of all you can’t get the environmental approvals. It’s impossible.
16:00
When I was over these it was very interesting. A friend of mine from China. I respect what they do. If they can take advantage of our leaders I have great respect for that if then can do it. They are filling a great big chunk of the ocean. I asked how long it took to get the environment permits? He said what. I’ve got many environmental awards. I’ve seen projects stopped because of this and that. This is horrible. They say it isn’t horrible. The consultants are making it harder so you pay more. It’s like the drilling of oil. Abu Dhabi said all of their transportation is going to be run by natural gas. We are the kind of natural gas. Wind is limited really. Solar hasn’t really be perfected. The solar will take you approximately 22 year pay back. It will get back. We are the king of coal and natural gas and we don’t use it. I look at what is going on. If you look at Bill O'Reilly from a few weeks ago I said Bin Laden is in Pakistan. We give Pakistan billions of dollars a year. I said listen I understand something about that. You tell them we are don’t giving you any money unless you hand over Bin Laden. I make these statements and nobody ever picks them up. When you come up with a good idea in politics they take. Trump doesn’t get credit. I love to get credit. If anybody thinks he wasn’t there they are foolish. They aren’t really are friends or our enemy. They desperately need our money. We don’t give any money unless they give up their nuclear weapons. It seem very simple to me.
22:14
So, I hope it does get picked up. For us to giving them. They take our money and use that money for nuclear weapons. They may not be friendly to us and including Israel. You can not let them have those nuclear weapons. We went into Iraq we’ve spent 1.5 trillions dollars. We’ve lost thousands of great men and women. We go in and fight and we leave. As soon as we leave Iran is going to take it. I hear they are closer to the leaders of Iran than our people. For years they were about equal. Now what we’ve done is we’ve decapitated one of these countries. Iran wants the oil. They have one of the biggest oil fields in the world. I say we are in there. A lot of friends say are you suggesting we take the oil. If you remember we went into Iraq the smart ones said we are going into Iraq for the oil. Saddam killed terrorist. He would kill you if you were are a terrorist. Now Iraq is the Harvard of terrorism. They have 15 trillion dollars worth of oil. At the minimum we get our money back and the rest goes to the families. People tell me you can’t do that because it is a sovereign nation. When the families of those great fallen soldiers and sees Iran take over how do you think the parents are going to feel about that they died in vail. Again all of the wounded all of the money.
27:40
Just like I said, I’ve made a lot of good prediction. I am not saying I am a great psychic. I have an instinct for things. I said terrorism is going to be a big factor. People didn’t know so much what terrorism really was then. If oil is going to stay at over 100 dollars. We could have a real second dip. I know how to deal with OPEC. I know how to deal with China. They are smart and cunning and they are not our friends. I am thinking about running. I must be honest it's tough because I am very anti establishment. That even includes the Republicans. I told you have great respect for Paul Ryan I would not have done it the way he did it. Too early too soon. Let the other guy lead it in. Then you go and do your number and then you get something that will make our country great again. What really that I said today can people take a shot at? I want to take care of our fallen soldiers. I want to take care of our people. I want the oil. I want reimbursement to us and by the way to the other countries that helped us like Britain and other countries. When you think about it what’s controversial. I think even the Republicans don’t like it because I am not in that club. In my opinion that club isn’t going to make us a great country again. We have tremendous potential. We can not let China drain us. We can’t let OPEC drain us. We can’t let South Korea drain us. I want to find an American company that makes TVs we can’t find them. We got LG from South Korea.
31:17
In South Korea we have thousands of soldiers between North and South Korea. We were all set to sign this agreement and they said no no no we don’t want it. Now, Baron Trump who’s my 4 year old son would not have agreed to that agreement for the US that’s how bad the agreement is. They embarrassed the President when they didn’t sign when they were supposed to. We are sending the big armada over there and then they want to send the agreement as soon as North Korea starts sending bombs over. Unfortunately a politician isn’t going to say what I am saying. When you are firm and tough with someone you actually have a better relationship because they know you are firm. I honestly believe the upcoming election is one of the most important elections in our countries history. We have a chance to be great and an unbelievable power again and i’m talking from an economic standpoint. We don’t have the right leaders. If I run and if I win and that’s a big if. This country will be great again. This country will win again and this country will be respected again. Thank you very much.
35:26
Question: What would you have a recommendation for us to maybe change direction and maybe look from another point of view to be viable again, to be healthy again and to have the next generation do well.
DT: That’s a great question. A lot of towns are having Walmart's coming in. If the economy were good. You know where it’s good? Washington because it is working. There is room for everybody. If we could get our economy back and if we could get our jobs back. If we could use the right brainpower you would have so much business and so would others. We are just teetering along. We have no interest rate. If you want to borrow money today. If you want to buy a house it very hard. I am talking about the big banks. They are taking these tremendous subsidies and aren’t loaning money out. Eventually interest rates have to go up. Look at the cost of cotton. They are setting records. A lot of that is because of the decimation of the dollar. We have to get a strong dollar back and we have to get the country going again. You and a lot of people will start making money again.
Q: You have made statements about not being a nice guy and being anti establishment and things like that. To that end if you do enter the political arena the art of compromise is somewhat important. Is that a skill you would develop kind of tap into your inner nice guy at some point just to get the job done?
40:44
DT: Okay, that’s a very good question. She’s a comedian. I hope I am a nice guy. The celebrity apprentice very funny. Number one I hope I am a nice guy. We don’t have a lot of room for big negotiation. We’ve given that up over the last 10 to 15 years. We have to do it right. We need not compromise. We need smart people and we need good people. Maybe we need lame duck people. If we don’t get it in order this country is going to go over a cliff. 40 cents out of every dollar goes to pay interest to China and other places. I think we are beyond compromise. We have to do what’s right for the country. If we don’t do it we aren’t going to have much of a country left. Thank you it’s a great question.
Q: What are we going to do for new jobs?
DT: We have to take our manufacturing back from China and other places. I toured NH two weeks ago. These are great manufacturing companies. I almost didn’t think we had these anymore. I see plants that are empty and thriving in Mexico. We have to start manufacturing again. We have to get rid of Obama Care. I have six friends who have modest sized business. Of the six two are going to close and another two are thinking about it and these are good guys. I’ve never heard of them mention those words. I really think this President is doing a real disservice. We are going through all these court systems. Why doesn’t he just allow it to go to the supreme court. It would save a year. Why doesn’t he let his people go directly to the supreme court. You need certainty. Ultimately those people on the supreme court will be ruling on Obama Care. It’s been an honor. Thank you all very much.
