Dear Gloria et al:
I am extremely honored by the decision of SFU to award me an honorary degree. Because of my affection for
the University, I feel the need to alert you to the fact that due to the publication last week of a false and
defamatory article in Buzzfeed making claims against me last week (and for what it is worth, I can assure you
the claims are indeed false and twisted after a bitter 6 month effort by journalists without integrity, and I will be
producing a detailed statement at some time in the coming weeks) there has been an uproar in at least some
segments of the twitter sphere. While it is not at this point a broad news item, I nevertheless believe the
University could be embarrassed if it announced it was awarding me an honorary degree at this time, and I
expect there might be pressure on you from at least some individuals to rescind the award. Thus, while this
could all die down in weeks on its own, or following my statement, or even perhaps a decision to initiate a
lawsuit, I expect you would be wise to reconsider awarding me the degree at this time. I could make it easier on
you by not accepting the award at this time if you want. It is your call of course, but I felt that it would not be
appropriate or honorable to have this news sprung on you by surprise after an announcement. Please thank the
President very much for his kind offer in any case.
I am very sorry to have had to send this note. I was greatly looking forward to the event, and I remain very
honored by the thought. I am hoping this too shall pass. But for the moment at least, it hasn't.
With my best regards, and thanks.

Hello Dr. Krauss,
EFTA00874069
Congratulations on receiving an SFU honorary degree. I have written a short and "long" bio for
some of our promotional materials. I've attached these and hope that you can review them for
factual accuracy and let me know of any edits as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the word counts
are quite tight.
Thanks for your assistance.
Best regards,
Diane
