To: From: grey ps em Sent Mon 1/6/2014 12:38:08 PM German Chancellor Angela Merkel fractured her pelvis while on a skiing vacation in Switzerland, her spokesman told reporters in Berlin Monday. Steffen Seibert said that Merkel "suffered bruising in connection with a partial fracture on her left posterior pelvic ring," adding: "We believe she was going at a low speed." Seibert told reporters that Merkel, who was cross-country skiing at the time of the accident, would need to cancel a number of official appointments in the coming weeks but would continue to lead the government and hold Cabinet meetings. The accident occurred over the Christmas break but Merkel thought initially it was just a bruise. It was only after she returned to Berlin that her doctors diagnosed the full extent of the injury. Fellow German and Formula One legend Michael Schumacher remains in a medically-induced coma for a severe brain trauma suffered while skiing in the French Alps over a week ago. *********************************************************** The information contained in this communication is confidential, may be attorney-client privileged, may constitute inside information, and is intended only for the use of the addressee.
