From: John Brockman <MINIM> To: jeffrey epstein <jeevacation®gmail.com> Subject: Feel better? Date: Tue, 11 Jan 2011 21:12:50 +0000 SENT FROM MY PRIVATE EMAIL ACCOUNT > Feel better? JE, Feel fine. No pain, only inconvenient. But anxious. So I wrote up the history and wrote/talked to to three friends: Mike Gazzaniga, Ramachandran, and Eric Kandel. Then I emailed the surgeon last night who had not given me his opinion about surgery as he hadn't seen the EMG tests yet. His people called today and said he wants to see me in a month on Feb 7. I told them the neurologist was pushing with a sense of urgency to have an operation asap. The surgeon's guy said the has now seen all the test results and is comfortable with seeing me in a month. So he's obviously not pushing me to go to the hospital. In the meantime, I'm doing PT twice a week and going to look for Feldenkreis or Alexander person. Below are some responses. Thanks for you help and support. ICANDEL CONVERSATION Spoke to Eric who said to avoid neck surgery unless its absolutely the last resort. He wants me to come up to Columbia to see his colleague - Linda Lewis, who he says is the best neurologist he knows. And to bring film and test results. Tel no. 212-305-5246. RAMA RESPONSE From: "V.S. Ramachandran" Date: January 11, 2011 1:21:14 PM EST To: John Brockman <MINIM> Subject: Re: private John Very sorry to hear this. These things can be annoying even though not serious. As you know Im not a spinal surgeon but my overall inclination is to lean in Jeffs direction. Always get multiple opinions before surgery - but do so SOON. Meanwhile Ill ponder over it and give you feedback in the next couple of days. Rest assured you can be optimistic Rama GAZZANIGA RESPONSE -- He wants me to see his friend Dr. Frank Petito at Cornell. See Below From: Michael Gazzaniga EFTA00696853 Date: January 11, 2011 1:53:33 PM EST To: John Brockman MEM> Subject: Re: private John On all clinical matters involving neurologic issues I always consult Dr. Frank Petito at Cornell. He is top guy in NYC. I did review this with another top person here that is a good friend. He comments as follows: "In general the standard of care in non-progressive radiculopathy with mild or moderate clinical weakness and no pain is conservative; put off surgery until something else gets you. An EMG is not essential if clinical signs and symptoms and radiology tests already establish the diagnosis. If questions persist, see another neurologist at an academic center." So I would call Frank and tell him I am sending you. I am sure Frank knows all the players involved and everyone agrees he is tops. Don't know what he will say but it is a bit interesting that a neurologists recommends surgery. Waiting on the opinion of a top orthopedic guy and will get that to you. xxMike EFTA00696854
