Jim asked me for my thoughts on a light prebuy inspection that would prove the integrity of the Boeing. I told Jim to inspect internal wing plates, I feel good there is no corrosion issues in these areas, visual in tail section (we just addressed corrosion there last year, I feel good about this area also). Jim has contracted two mechanics to do a visual inspection of the Boeing, and would like to accomplish this next week, if you approve. approx. 12 hours. It appears the Sultan is excited about the prospect of this purchase after looking at the photos and Jim's meeting with me on the Boeing. do you approve of this inspection for the Boeing? thx Larry Original Messat From: JIM MILLER To: Larry Sent: Fri, Aug 30. 2013 4:16 pm Hello Larry, I have been talking to Sultan - a lot - about the 727 and he really appreciated the floor plan. Having never been aboard the aircraft I think it really helped orient him to the 250 + pictures I took! I have spent a lot of time running down competent authority to do the inspection and all of these roads have led me to Steve Weisberg of Pro-Tech Advisors. (http://www.protechadvisors.com) There are many who know the 727 (Timco and FlightStar) and even more who are willing to inspect and determine market value but very few who can or want to do this sort of pre-purchase inspection. I had to rule out Stambaugh simply to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest by a contractor. Pro-Tech Advisors can send up 2 techs to go through the aircraft starting next Thursday. We can perform the inspection as you outlined below (visual only - no borescope) next week. Any required access (removal of panels, etc) would need to be performed by the MRO. Obviously we would need suitable access to the aircraft and any kind of general maintenance stands and lifts as necessary. We estimate that the inspection will take approximately 12 hours over a two day period. EFTA00873011 I have not signed off the inspection even though I am in a hurry to get it done. Once it is done and favorable it is our intention to really step up our role and that is something we all are looking forward to. Please let me know if you could arrange to have Stambaugh accomodate these fellows next week or if not - when. We will certainly pay for any time they spend pulling panels or whatever is necessary to allow the access needed. Thank you and any comments you have about this process are aways welcome.
