Michael,
I =ant to put together a drawing for you but I need to clarify a couple of =hings first.
• So the =uilding was not erected according to plans, it was modified somewhat in =he
field? The building was a fully sheeted building. So the =rector opened up the left end wall to 8'2" and the back =ide
wall to 10'6" but was sheeted 5'6" =ast the roof of the 14" slab. How deep is the retaining =all?
• Are the (2) 12' x 14' =oors on the marked up dwg you sent back (front side wall and right
end =all) to be included in these locations? Are we adding a third =ollup door in bay #3 of the front side wall where you
currently have a =5' rough opening?
Assuming the above is correct this is =hat I would propose.
We previously had the left end wall as = flush girt condition. I would change it to a bypass girt so
that =he girt would extend 10"(depth of girt) past the face of the =olumn. This way a) the panel would lap over the
retaining wall(if it is =0" or less deep) for a good seal and b) would allow us to shift =he columns in 10". This will clear
the existing anchor =olts which will be cut off and providing the pier is sufficient in =idth, would save a whole lot of time
and labor on those (4) left end =all columns.
I'd leave the back side wall =pen to 10'6", sheet above the roof and provide a wall =o roof
flashing. I'm assuming the slab is all even =levation?
I think if we change the bay spacings =lightly(less than a foot in most cases) we can avoid having
to do a lot =f the demolition.
