Hello All,
Just got off the phone with our tracker, Evan, on the ground in
Jacksonville. Below are the notes from our call.
Big Highlights*
*
- Tweaks Obama-Ayers attack -- brings Fannie/Freddie ties, Ahmadejinad
(will he claim he didn't know their backgrounds?)
- Says election is about truthfulness and judgment - McCain has it,
Obama doesn't
- While Palin attacking Obama-Ayers connection, crowd member shouts
"Treason!"
- Attacks Obama-Biden for talking about the future but focusing on the
past, where they can lay blame
- Says the "time for choosing is near" and it's all about what we believe
in
- difference between a candidate who observes and analyzes us and a
leader who understands us... faith in govt vs. in people, words
vs. deeds...

Speech Highlights
- so good to see all the kids here, all the students - are you guys
skipping school today? [cheers] ok you get yourself extra credit for being
here today
- TY so much
- we spent yesterday visiting w/ Floridians all over the place -
wonderful - when we got there, we knew ppl in this state get it. you want
the reform, the change. ppl came out to here our msg because they like you
are ready to send us to DC to make sure things there are shaken up - so
great to be here in JAX - a good night last night for FL - how about those
Tampa Bay Rays? midnight. you know what that tells me? the ppl in this area
know something about turning an underdog into a victor. itll be a
hardfought. we're taking our case of reform to every voter of every party or
no party. because we know how important it is to take our msg to everyone so
they all understand that 1 tkt represents job creation and winning the
wars and the other tkt does not
- i had wanted to come to FL earlier last wk but i had an appt that
couldnt wait and that was in St. Louis. last thurs i had a lil debate with
biden and [you rock!] joe is a fine and decent man and i enjoyed meeting him
for the first time but i was so proud to make the case for the next POTUS,
mccain. mccain offers optimistic vision and pragmatic solutions. on the
other hand, *for a campaign that says its all about the future they sure
look to the past a lot because that's where you find blame -- we're looking
to the future because that's where you find solutions*
- mccains is the only one who will solve and not exploit our econ crisis
*as Sen, he saw abuses* and as president, i promise i will help him do
this, we will reform
- we will bring tax relief incl. to small businesses, because thats how
jobs are created
- we'll help w/ rising costs of food and college
- we'll complete the work of education reform to give every child a
chance and give every parent a choice
- we'll make HC more accessible and affordable
- we'll have a spending freeze in govt to cover all but the most vital
functions
- we ahve to do this because we have to get in there and improve every
agency of fed govt and eliminate the ones that arent working
- we will confront the $10T debt
- *we will balance the fed. budget*
- put it all together and mccain is only man in race w/ plan that will
actually help working families and put us back on track
- and the only man in this race who talks about the wars america is
fighitng and unlike our opponent he isnt afraid to use the wd victory -- our
opponent voted to cut off funding for our trps even after saying he woulndt
- said our troops in Afgh just "airraiding villages and killing civilians"
-- the US military is protecting our frdms, our democratic values and what
we stand for - they're building schools for children in afgh so there is
hope and opportunity for them too - for that and more they deserver our
gratitude adn our support [usa! usa! usa!]
- mccain believes in our troops and their mission and as mom of 1 of
those troops he's exactly who i want as commander in chief
- country's uniform for 22 yrs, 5 1/2 yrs as POW. after graduating from
naval academy, stationed right here in FL, trained to fly here. part of FL's
proud military tradition. let us thank vets and active-duty here. awesome.
we thank you, we owe you
- in just 28 days, our nation will face time of choosing. the choices we
face: in politics, there are some who use change to promote careers and some
who uses career to promote change. principles and pol independence matter so
much more than party line. mccain is his own man, doesnt just run with DC
herd. we dont just talk about change, we're teh only candidates w/ track
recrod of actually making change happen
- as mayor and gov, 1st i reminded ppl govt is too often the problem. we
put govt back on side of ppl. as mayor, i eliminated personal property taxes
and sm. business inventory fees--annoying-- which got in way of private
sector. as gov, i brought same agenda of pos. change. controlled spending by
request if possible, by veto if necessary. i would use that veto pen. i did
put veto to $0.5B in wasteful spending - i didnt make a lot of frineds in
legistlature that way. but i gave a big chunk back to the ppl. i always knew
who i was acctable to - the ppl who hired me, the ppl of AK. mccain-palin
admin will never forget who we're acctable to: you.
- 1 misison in admin will be set nation firmly on a course toward energy
independence. Across FL and USA, high costs of gas, groceries, cost of
living -- but the value of paycheck going down because of high cost of
energy. we need more than just a few things being plugged in -- we need all
of the above. taht means developing new alt energy sources [drill baby
drill]. that will require nucl plants. itll also mean harnessing the most
bountiful resources that here in FL has so richly blessed you with,
in FL with
the solar "and the winds". and safe offshore drilling if thats what the
state desires. in USA we need to drill here and drill now. and now you
chant drill baby drill. drill baby drill. energy security important for our
natl security and our future econ prosperity
- we'll bring tax relief to create jobs. phoniest claim in a campaign
thats been full of them is that obama will cut your taxes. think about it.
he built his career 1st on doling out tax money as Chicago politician, then
raising taxes as Sen -- he voted to raise taxes 94 times incl. on
hardworking middleclass - he found time to waste $1M / day in earmark
spending, and now has committed to $1T in new spending, no one asks how he's
gonna pay for it -- go with your gut or do the math, the conclusion is he's
gonna raise taxes* [nobama! nobama!]*
- pattern is of a leftwing agenda thats pkged and prettied up to look
like it's just mainstream policy. the problem is higher taxes, activist
judges, bigger govt, retreat in war is just another dead end
- also a pattern in how obama has talked about troubling assoc. 1 of his
earliest supporters is ayers. acc. to NYT, ayers is domestic terrorist, part
of Weather Underground, bombing campaigns. now obama camp claiming obama
wasnt aware of ayers radical backgrd, *[crowd member yells: TREASON!] *just
a guy in the neighborhood, you mean to tell me he didnt know he launched his
career in living rm of a domestic terrorist?
- *whats next? claiming he didnt know 2 of his biggest supporters were
running Fannie, that has done harm to Am. economy? maybe he thought they
were just guys in the DC neighborhood. and since he now got called out on
agreeing to sit down with leaders like Ahmadejinad, will he now claim he was
unaware of his radical backgrd? [sarah!] will he now claim his tkt doesnt
define higher taxes as being patriotic? and will he claim he's just learned
tax increases on sm businesses kill jobs? this election is about the
truthfulness nad judgment of next president. mccain has it, obama doesnt.
*
- tonight america gets another look. tonight is town hall time, live from
nashville. we'll see difference between leader who puts his faith in govt
vs. you. difference between inspiring words and inspiring deeds.
*difference between
a candidate who observes and analyzes us and a leader who understands us
*. in short, difference between guy who makes big promises and a guy who
gets things done.* the time for choosing is near. and its all about what
we believe in.* what mccain and i believe is what reagan believed in. in
a culture of life and in a nation that represents perfect values and ideals
- we're not a perf nation and we learn from our mistakes, but collectively
we represent the values of democracy and frdm, worth fighting for. we're
exceptional. we're not the problem, america can be the solution.
- from now to election day, our opponents will go on and on about how
they'll fight for you. ive taken on to say this for my running mate: there's
only 1 man who's ever really fought for you and who has teh courage to keep
fighting for you. god bless you for supporting him and god bless florida.
