Highlands of Scotland, regarded by many as being one of the finest partridge shoots in the UK. Teams fly in, some in private planes, to Inverness airport, just a 25 minute drive away. Being a small airport, customs and gun control couldn't be more straightforward, making it one of the simplest shooting destinations to get to. The focal point of your stay is Drynachan Lodge, which sits on the banks of the River Findhorn, one of the most picturesque places in the world. Days tend to consist of four drives in the morning with one or two drives after lunch. The shooting is stunning and the estate boasts a vast range of drives. Teams normally shoot for two days with bags of 400 to 500 birds per day throughout September and early October, dropping to 250 to 300 in late October and early November. Smaller days are available later in the season. Should you go in September, salmon fishing is available on the Findhorn after shooting. There may also be the possiblity of a grouse/partridge combination. Drynachan is also the perfect destination for non-shooters. The great links golf courses of Nairn, Dornoch and Castle Stuart are within 1 hour and the ultimate Scottish shopping experience of the House of Bruar is only slightly further away. Horse riding is also available and there are plenty of places to visit, Cawdor Castle being on the doorstep. There are few shooting destinations in the world that are as accessible, offer such a variety of fantastic sport alongside comfortable accommodation in a private lodge and provide just as much enjoyment for the non-shooter.
