Give all the attention on South Carolina and the Confederate flag being flown on state grounds there, I'm wondering about President Clinton's take on the SC flag and also on the Arkansas flag which, according to a law he signed in 1987, includes a star that symbolizes the Confederacy (ftp://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/acts/1987/Public/116.pdf). 1986 was the Arkansas State Sesquicentennial – 150 years since it was admitted into the union. The legislature did not meet until 1987. In honor of the sesquicentennial – apparently a number of bills were signed – officially establishing the state song, state bird, state flag etc. Thus solving the mystery of why this came up again since the flag design with the star for CSA was handled in 1924. WJC signed a whole packet of them including the one about the flag. I’m getting the whole packet.

We can push back on Jake on the star; frankly the revelvant question about Robert E Lee Day is whether or not HRC and WJC support ending the holiday and the other states where it is celebrated. (I dont think Jake will care shy it was created in the first place in terms of whether or not he chooses to talk about it)There is a movement pushing for abolishing the holdiday and all others related to the confederacy. So a statement denouncing all would shut down this piecemeal oppo push.
