Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk
April 3, 2016
Dear Credit Union Cherry Blossom Finishers and Volunteers:
On the cusp of summer, this will be our final communication about this spring's race. Thanks for participating or volunteering.
** Results Book:
We are pleased to provide you with a link to the electronic version of the 2015 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run results publication.
You can view the "Results Book" either in .pdf format at http://www.cherryblossom.org/images/2015/2015_Results_Book.pdf or as an online flip book at http://www.cherryblossom.org/aboutus/3dresults/15CUCBResultsBook/index.html.
Some notes on the different formats:
FLIP BOOK (http://www.cherryblossom.org/aboutus/3dresults/15CUCBResultsBook/index.html): If you choose to view the publication in "flip book" format, depending on your browser and screen size, you may find the Full Screen view to offer the sharpest clarity. To get to Full Screen view, please do the following:
Click the link and let the publication load.
Once it loads, roll your mouse over the downward pointing carat at the center of the top border of the page.
A horizontal bar of icons will open. Click the one to the right of the "?" button that contains four outward pointing arrows; this will put you in "full screen" mode.
You can zoom in by clicking anywhere on the publication (click again to return to your original view). You can adjust the scale of zoom from 75% to 200% by using the slider bar that appears on your screen. The portion of each page that you can view
will depend on the percentage zoom you select, and on the size of your screen.
You can search the entire publication for a particular name or phrase by clicking on the magnifying glass (third from left) in the icon bar.
.PDF FORMAT (http://www.cherryblossom.org/images/2015/2015_Results_Book.pdf): If you choose to print all 90 pages, you should set your printer options to "Fit to Printable Area" in order for it to print correctly.
Inside the publication you will find stories about the race, complete final results for both the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 9.39 Mile Run and the 5K Run-Walk, the names of all of our volunteers, photos and statistics. We hope you will enjoy the final memento from this year's race.
** All-Time Searchable Database:
The 2015 results have been uploaded into the All-Time Searchable Database at http://www.cballtimeresults.org/. While your official time is your time for 9.39 miles, we have included your projected 10 mile time as well. Click on your 2015 performance to surface it along with other graphs about your performance. If you find any errors or omissions (hometown, etc.) - or if you ran under different names ("Bill" or "William" or under a maiden and married name in different years) - in your listings, you can email us at [email protected] with the change that you think needs to be made. Please put "Searchable Database" in the header of your message. We will update the All-Time Searchable database as we receive and approve corrections.
** The "100-Mile" Club:
We have changed the name of our "Streakers" program to the 100 Mile Club. (We felt that the word "Streaker" was a misnomer, because we do not require the 10 races needed to qualify for "Streaker" status to have been run consecutively.) The 100 Mile Club is based on the number of miles you have completed in the event over the years. If you have completed the 10 mile 10 times, you are a member and are entitled to a guaranteed entry, provided you do not get in through the lottery for the 2016 race and you contact us prior to February 1, 2016. Miles accumulated in either the 10 mile or the 5K Run-Walk are count towards the 100 Mile Club.
Participants who were "Streakers" because they had participated in some combination of ten 10-Mile Runs and 5K Run-Walks, but who fall below the 100 mile threshold under the new system, will be "grandfathered" in as 100 Mile Club members so that no one will lose eligibility for a guaranteed entry based on the changeover to the 100 Mile Club. The All-Time Searchable Database (http://www.cballtimeresults.org/) is an excellent resource to determine if you qualify for the 100 Mile Club for the 2016 race. If you qualify, you will see a banner that says 100 Mile Club with your data.
Note to Users of Internet Explorer: We have heard about some issues with the All-Time Searchable Database and some versions of Internet Explorer. If you cannot access your history, please go to "tools-> compatibility settings" and add http://www.cballtimeresults.org to the list of websites to be viewed in "Compatibility View."
** Looking Ahead to the 2016 Lottery:
Our 44th running will take place be on Sunday, April 3, 2016. We are back in our traditional first Sunday in April date. We will be using a lottery system to select entrants.
The lottery period will extend from Tuesday, December 1 through Friday, December 11, 2015. Complete lottery results will be posted on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. A few days before the lottery opens we will send out reminder emails to everyone who entered the lottery for the 2015 race - even those who were not selected. If your email changes during the year, go to the website (http://www.cherryblossom.org) and sign up for the email lottery notification list with your new email address. All of the latest lottery information will be posted on the event website, www.cherryblossom.org.
Everyone should put the following emails on your preferred email list so our messages will not be rejected as spam. We cannot take responsibility for individuals missing the lottery because our reminder message was trapped in their spam folder:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
If you know individuals who did not enter in 2015 but who would like to receive the reminder email about the 2016 entry process, you can tell them to register to receive the reminder email on the website, www.cherryblossom.org.
**Two-Time Loser Entries
Once again we will be offering a guaranteed entry code to anyone who was rejected in the lottery for entry into the race for the last two years (2014 and 2015) and did not gain entry into the race by a guaranteed code from a volunteer, through your credit union, or another source. This code, which will be emailed to you in mid-to-late November, will allow you to bypass the lottery and gain entry directly into the event. Unless you have changed your last name or your email address, we know who you are so you do not need to take any action other than being on the lookout for an email containing your entry code in late November, 2015. If you have changed names or emails, please contact us at [email protected] with the new information and place in the header "Two Year Lottery Exemption Update."
** Guaranteed Entries Through Teens Run DC
Guaranteed entries for the 2016 race are available through our partnership with Teens Run DC. TRDC is recruiting mentors now for its 2015-16 season! TRDC partners with DC public schools to empower at-risk youth ages 11-20 through a youth mentoring, life skills training, and distance running program. Run or walk with a student and you will together set and achieve goals for training, racing, and life.
Mentors commit to working with an individual student for a full academic year and participate in regular Saturday morning practices from 10 to 12 noon with the TRDC community in Anacostia Park, near the Anacostia Metro Station. Program commitment is 10 hours a month, September through June.
For more information and to apply, go to http://www.teensrundc.org/get-involved/mentors/, or contact [email protected].
You can also gain entry into this year's Marine Corps Marathon by raising $500 for TRDC. For more information, visit http://www.teensrundc.org/support/marine-corp-marathon/how-it-works/
** Volunteer Guaranteed Entries
In late November, all of our 2015 volunteers will automatically receive a guaranteed entry code that will enable them to bypass the lottery. No further action is needed on your part to receive this code.
Once again, thanks for taking part in our event. We look forward to seeing everyone next year for our 44th running.
Sincerely,
Event Director Phil Stewart, Deputy Race Director Becky Lambros and the Entire Organizing Committee
