The stretcher with a carved chinoiserie figure wielding a dagger in his left hand
and a dagger pouch on his hip, within a carved C scroll with floral carving. The legs with
pierced shell and floral carving terminating in upturned C scrolled feet. The frieze is
decorated with a winged dragon with an open mouth sitting below a griffin perched atop
a ledge; with floral sprays and C scrolls all-around.
The published designs of Johann Cuvillies and Hoppenhaupt (1707-1769) with their
console tables include Chinamen perched on them (which were removed during the
French Rococo). Hoppenhaupt's designs exerted influence also on Habermanil in
Augsburg.
