Hi
Here is what I have learned. The original Bein and Fuschi appraisal from 2005 was
either lost or discarded when IGOR Horoschevsky died in 2006, as the instrument
was re appraised by Henning violins in April 2007 for his widow Mary Horoschevsky
for the estate . As I said this is from April of 2007 , standard thought would be
instrument has appreciated at least 10% but more likely 15% since that time. That
is the nice thing about such a fine instrument as this , they continually
appreciate ! My own cello was around 300 k in 1980 and today has a value around 6
or 7 million dollars.
There is currently another cello in England for sale by the same maker , it is
being offered from what I understand at 190 k Pounds. However the provenance on
that particular instrument is not nearly as sure as the instrument Jeffrey is
considering . I have not seen the cello in England nor spoken with shop offering
just repeating what was shared with me.
As I explained the cello I have chosen for Jeffrey belongs to the widow of the
original owner. In my opinion it is one of the finest instruments in existence
that I have ever seen , by whatever maker. The workmanship and tone are truly
remarkable . The Maker is considered one of the finest of the modern Italian
School from the year 1927. I will be happy to fax appraisal and papers if you
provide a fax number to send . When I met with Jeffrey in Dec. I showed him the
paper and pictures of instrument .
Perhaps the greatest testament I can give to this particular instrument is that I
promised to do this for Jeffrey and I would be very excited for him and the
Epstein foundation to have such a wonderful cello, however if Jeffrey is not
inclined am going to buy it myself and use it as my concert instrument along side
my1739 Montagnana. Please pass the information on to Jeffrey and send a fax
number for information .
Thanks
