F,
Let's catch up! I'm around this weekend, especially on Saturday.
Then traveling starts on Sunday afternoon and I'll see Barnaby late next week.
What's up with you? I'd love to sync up.
I'm attaching a Word doc with 2 possible Round Tables to do with Dan Ariely.
Dan has submitted a theme/question and a list of folks he'd like to invite.
I'd like to work with you (or Cecile or ?) to flesh out the guidelines (this is
simple: what costs will be covered, what the "offer" is, spouses/no spouses,
etc. -- just covering the kinds of questions that come up so we can make a
"clean" invitation). I'd also like to get a bio of you, our host, so that this
can all be put together -- We can create some kind of template invitation and
will run this by you. We'll figure out a way to make this fairly turnkey.
Of course, I "love* working with Cecile, and I wonder if she could still do
this with me now that she's First Lady down there.... She rocks, though.
Awesome, smart, etc.
I wanted to get your reaction to:
1. The idea of calling these gatherings: Round Tables or Out of the Box
Round Table Gatherings
2. The proposal format and ideas (short theme/question with list of invited
guests) -- if this works for you, I'll ask the others I approach for this same
format/proposal.
3. Dan's specific ideas -- do one, do both.
4. Additional names for Dan's Round Tables.
S. Dates: when can we start these and are there some date windows that are
better than others?
6. How do divide the work -- how much can your office do, how much do I do?
I would be grateful if your office could handle all logistics, travel,
expensing, etc. and I stuck with outreach, ideas, agenda, etc.
There are probably a few other things, too... this is what's on my mind for
now.
Oh -- yeah, do you have any specific people, ideas in mind that you'd like to
do this with -- I'll be talking further to:
Nathan Wolfe
Antonio Damasio
Dave Gallo (oceanographer) -- he's an interesting character -- check out his
TED talk
If you are NOT interested in any of the above, just let me know.
I'd like to talk with Stuart Brown who wrote a book called PLAY
http://www.amazon.com/Play-Shapes-Brain-Imagination-
Invigorates/dp/1583333339/ref=sr_1_17ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245437220&sr=8-1
I'll be on the lookout for interesting folks at the Aspen Festival of
Ideas, at SciFoo, and I'll talk with Barnaby. Is there anyone or any
idea, you'd like me to pursue that addresses something you'd enjoy?
Then -- let's sync up your schedule, mine and Dan's, and do one of
these and see how it goes!!
