Lesion effect studies were (and are) the only brain resear=h method that can establish whether a brain structure is

- Are you familiar with Alvin Liberman's="Motor Theory of Speech Perception?" Initially received with
ske=ticism; gained traction over the decades since it was first articulated. G=ven that the first musical instrument was
likely the human voice, and give= that song, not sonatas, are universal, Liberman's theory applies to m=sic - above and
beyond the fact that speech intonation is often more impor=ant to communication than spoken words (especially, I
